Feather-Legged Fly

feather-legged tachinid fly on parsley flowers

A feather-legged tachinid fly feeds on parsley flowers.

This tachinid fly is one of the most visually pleasing to my eyes; the amber abdomen and blackened wings make a standout combination. While I would not call them rare, these flies do seem to be a pain in the butt to photograph; they are very aware of the bug paparazzi and getting satisfactory shots is sometimes difficult.
