Minus Four Legs

Yellow-crowned Night Heron in front of the lights on the water

Okay, bonus post today. Not a bug. Not a macro shot. But it is a lovely and somewhat brazen Yellow-crested Night Heron (apparently also known as an American Night Heron or squawk, according to the Wikipedia). I was eating with friends in a waterfront restaurant in Florida, when this not-so little (for my website) bird came around, skulking about for food, presumably. I luckily had the camera handy (and with a non-macro lens attached), though my somewhat messy hands inhibited my shooting — gotta protect the camera! This was the one good shot I fired off.

So I showed off my little bird shot with shimmering water bokeh. Non-bug interlude over. :)
