
A male midge can be distinguished from its female counterpart by its bushy antennae. These appendages are designed to catch chemical pheromone signals floating in the air which will lead the male to the female.
Maybe more like a mustache? No belly on Santa here either, but at least I’ve got some green and red (well, reddish orange, maybe) in there. Merry Christmas to those celebrating, bugs to all, and to all a non-biting midge.
