Lights Out: Phidippus Friday Edition

phidippus audax jumping spider in the shadows of white vinyl window

Phidippus audax jumping spiders are welcome residents in my window frames.

Okay, no editing unmasterfully overexposed photos in this one. No blend modes or layer masks. Just a Phidippus audax hiding in the shadows of a window frame. This photo is an from summer, a couple years ago, but in the first week of December I saw a P. audax scouting around the same windows. I was unable to shoot it at the time, but it was nice to see, regardless. The past two or three years I have reliably seen one of these jumping spiders come out in December. I think it is a sign for me that, despite the darkness, the light will return; winter will end. Hope lives in a spider. Have a great weekend, everyone.

    1. Funny you should mention jumpers in the shwoer, I saved a half-drowned one last fall. I got some pretty good shots out of it, too!
