Spring Spiders

Sitticus pubescens on red brick

The little jumping spider, Sitticus pubescens, likes to catch some sun on the warm brick where the nooks and crannies make for good hiding from prey and photographers alike.

For the most part, it has been spiders, spiders, and mostly jumping spiders for me in this odd, quasi-Spring season. I like a variety, but you can never go wrong with jumpers, especially Sitticus pubescens and its Ewok-like cuteness. These especially small jumping spiders fit nicely into the crags and nooks of the brick; if you don’t look closely, you can miss them easily!
