Before an apple tree produces fruit, it blossoms with little flowers and these have tiny plump but textured yellow anthers, which hold pollen.
Anthers are fascinating, seductive little structures, which I suppose is especially to the point when drawing in flies and bees and other pollinators is the goal. These little plump apple anthers are particularly beautiful, to my eye, with their soft yellow color and suddenly revealed texture.
