Yes, they can be real pains in the butt. I try to track one that isn’t (too) skittish on first sight. If they only flutter off a bit, I try to get an angle that turns them on around in the direction I want. They seem to like to have their backs to the sun. Mostly it’s just patience and perseverance that gets me a shot.
! have been trying to get a face on shot of a damselfly for a while now. Not at easy to do! they tend to perch with their back to the world.
