Ladybird beetles look very demure up close, but many are hungry predators looking for aphids and other smaller bugs. This lady was relaxing nonchalantly on a chainlink fence; well, until my camera showed up.
Not a lot to say about this one, other than I liked how it came out, especially for a lady beetle. They’re usually difficult subjects for me; the shiny, round natures of their bodies make super close ups tough. When they sort of tuck their heads down, like the one above is doing, it creates a flat plane which is more ideal for macro’s shallow depth of field. There is something surprising about their “faces”; I think it is the big eyes, close together, like a cartoon character.
