Little Frills for a Little Fly

fungus gnat standing on a small purple wildflower

A fungus gnat stands at rest on a small purple flower.

You put a little fly on a “purple dress” and it looks a lot prettier. I believe this is a fungus gnat, and it as well as the flower were both very small relative to flies and flowers. I found them at ground level, both very placid. The flower has a second cluster of anthers sunk into the petals and out of focus. Overall the flower is probably more aesthetically interesting, but the combination was very nice; I just wish the fly was looking towards the flower.

P.s. Slight crop on this one to cut out some empty space at the left.
