Didn’t know what to post today, so I decided to dig up the Florida leucospid wasp from the archive to piggyback on yesterday’s post. I thought I had a better shot than this, but apparently not. This shot does show the spikes on the enlarged hind femur. No ovipositor evident along the backside, so we’re likely looking at a male. I’m not really sure what distinguishes the subspecies Leucospis affinis floridana, but the records on BugGuide.net appear to be all (or mostly all) red and black wasps. And then there’s the whole “Florida” thing.
