Black Cats and All That (Beetle)

black beetle amidst cluster of white flowers

A small black beetle makes its way through a cluster of small white flowers.

Given a broad reading of the definition of “superstition,” I think it’s possible that the vast majority of human actions is primarily on hokum, which of course I suppose “hokum” needs to be scrutinized more deeply.

Another way to put that is, it’s Friday the 13th, and I don’t have a lot to say today. Nor do I have any black cats, so this small, black beetle will have to stand in. (Even though it kind of looks like the opposite of an unlucky beetle. Also, possibly a soldier beetle, Cantharidae? Not sure what the opposite of a soldier beetle is.)
