This Way and That (Ambush bugs)

ambush bugs on Queen Anne's Lace flowers

Ambush bugs sitting on Queen’s Anne Lace, waiting for prey.

The ambush bugs were all over this patch of Queen Anne’s Lace, and I did my best to get this pair in the same shot. Unfortunately while the framing worked, my exposure almost completely blew out the shot. In fact, many of the white petals were pretty much completely blown out. I tried to dampen their brightness, which is just a little too much (especially on the right side), but I couldn’t find a good way to make it look natural (well, without a very long and impossibly tedious process). So it goes, and so it stays. Meanwhile the ambush bugs continue to hold their heads high, like little chimeras peeking through clouds.
