First came across these when in Cyprus. Impressive predators. Subsequently I’ve seen more species in Greece and on Salisbury Plain. Tricky to get close enough to photograph so… well done.
Thanks, Marc. Some of my favorite flies. I’m really partial to the tiny ones (under 10mm) in the genus Holcocephala with their large separated, er, um… “bug” eyes. (Bug eyes even for a fly!) Those are *especially* tough to shoot; they don’t like to stay for a shot. Here’s an older post of those:
