We always come back to our favorites, I suppose; maybe that’s how we know ourselves to begin with. In this case, the favorite would be the subject, and to a lesser degree the photo. I have posted this one on Flickr previously, but I wanted to give it another shot. This processing left it more natural looking, a little less contrast; and I did some selective sharpening to make up for the mediocre focus. I wanted to even out the white bokeh (especially in the upper right corner), but I ran out of steam and left it as is. What a beauty, though, fraying wings and all.
(Black and white version after the break.)
Nice shot. I don’t think I’ve ever seeing one of these before.
I hope you get a chance someday; they’re beautiful creatures. I happened to see six or seven this particular year, which was at least a few years ago. I haven’t seen one since and I think I’d only ever seen one Luna before that good year. I’ve read that they have a big range but tend to be found in pockets. Looks like the Luna migration has come and gone in my neck of the woods for now.
