A regal dark-winged fungus gnat (Sciaridae?) rests on a plane of human epidermis.
This gnat shows how powerful good posture can be. (Not completely positive on my ID; pretty sure it’s a fungus gnat of some kind, if not specifically in Sciaridae. Also pretty sure it is gravid, i.e. preggers. Black and white version below.)

There’s just something really nasty sounding about the name fungus gnat.
I agree. And they’re really annoying when they flit about in your face. But up close they are pretty benign looking (to me).
