Unidentified buds

I just don’t know…what these buds are. Maybe off a fire bush? This is where it pays to keep good notes; alas, a habit I have refused to develop so far. (Didn’t like the black and white versions I came up with, but another color photo below.)

Good acuity and I really like the way the red pops with the blue sky in the second photo.
