I think I’ve got the ID right on this one. Epalpus signifer, like most tachinids that I have come across, have spiky hairs that are both inviting and off-putting. Kind of how a burr might have an interesting form but you’d really rather it not land on you. Of course, a burr is probably more dangerous than these flies, hairs and all.
