Huddle of One (Weevil, Curculionidae)

a light brown weevil with legs and snout tucked in on a hairy narrow leaf
A tiny weevil (Curculionidae) huddles to itself at the end of a fuzzy leaf.

There is something cuddly about this weevil. That’s all I have to say about this insect.

As far as the photo of said insect, I decided to lighten the background, If I’d done a B&W version, I’d might have gone in the opposite direction. I had a little trouble with getting more contrast and blowing out highlights on the top of the weevil. In my first attempt I also selectively denoised and sharpened the image. The noise reduction was mostly on the background and fairly smooth. I thought the sharpening, mostly on our little buddy, was fine, but after looking at it more closely, it seemed hideously overdone. I guess I like my photos rare. On to the next one.

    1. Thanks for the comment, David. This version was not the sharpened one, so of course now that I look at it again for the first time in a while, it looks too soft to me. Might not be the photo that needs editing. :)
