Big and Beautiful (Orbweaver Spider, Araneidae)

spider with large abdomen on spiky grass head
Orbweaver spider on grass spikelets.

The abdomens on these spiders are relatively large compared to the rest of their bodies. Some orbweavers are large in general, but I think this one was relatively small (judging by the fact it can fit on the width of the head of a grass stalk). The pattern on this one is striking, and the two gold spots stick out like a pair of glowing eyes.
