A Citizen of the Beautiful World (Gray Hairstreak, Strymon melinus)

Just about everything was beautiful that day. I guess one thing that wasn’t were the results of my photographing this fairly cooperative butterfly — they’re not always easy to work with! I took a lot of shots, and this is one of the ones I liked best. I didn’t want to risk scaring it off so I never quite got around to the angle I want; I was always a little behind. That’s okay, I still like it; it reminds me of that beautiful day.

(P.s. I think I have the identification correct, the gray hairstreak (or common hairstreak), Strymon melinus.)
